What are User Segments?
User segments are filtered groups of users based on properties, behaviors, and custom conditions. They help you:- Target specific user groups with relevant messaging
- Personalize marketing campaigns
- Analyze user behavior patterns
- Create tailored user experiences
- Users are automatically added when they meet the criteria
- Users are removed when they no longer match
- Real-time updates ensure accurate targeting
Creating User Segments
1. Navigate to Segments
In your Flywheel dashboard:- Go to Users → All Users
- Apply at least one filter to the users list
- Click Save Segment
Save a New Segment
Go directly to the users page with the save segment dialog open
2. Define Segment Criteria
You can create segments based on:- User Properties: Email, name, subscription status, custom properties
- Event Behavior: Users who performed specific actions
- Date Conditions: Registration date, last activity, etc.
- Custom Properties: Any custom data you’ve collected
4. Segment Configuration
When creating a segment, you can customize:- Name: Descriptive name for your segment
- Description: Optional description for team collaboration
- Icon: Visual identifier (choose from available icons)
- Color: Color coding for easy identification
Using Segments in Broadcasts
Once you’ve created segments, you can use them to target specific groups in your broadcast campaigns.Targeting a Segment

- Navigate to Email → Broadcasts
- Click Create Broadcast

Select Your Segment
- In the broadcast composer, find the To section
- Choose your target segment from the dropdown
- Preview the estimated reach

Compose Your Message
- Craft your email content
- Use personalization variables specific to your segment
- Preview how it looks for segment members

Send or Schedule
- Send immediately or schedule for optimal timing
- Monitor delivery and engagement metrics
